Savings Stamp Schemes

This straightforward scheme invoices the regular sale of €1.00 Savings Stamps in the school. The stamps are affixed to Cyril's Savings Card which is retained by the pupil.

A completed card may only be used as follows: Savings Card

  • to open a Post Office Savings Bank Account.
  • to make a deposit in an existing Post Office Savings Bank Account.

Please note that it’s not possible to encash a completed card.

To start a scheme, An Post provides an initial stock of Savings Stamp Cards. The teacher issues these to the pupils and explains the working of the scheme. The Savings Stamps are bought at the local Post Office and sold on a designated day - STAMP DAY - each week. An alternative arrangement for the teacher is to collect the money first, then buy the Stamps and issue them to the pupils. This involves keeping a record of name and Stamps needed; an Account Book for this purpose is available.

Savings Club Scheme
In this scheme all the pupils' savings are put into one account in the name of the School Savings Club in the Post Office Savings Bank.
